Wilco de Vries is a Doctor of Theology (Th.D.) candidate at Duke University Divinity School. He holds degrees from Duke University, VU Amsterdam, Erasmus University Rotterdam, and Theological University Apeldoorn in theology, philosophy, economics & business economics. His research interests are at the intersection of ethics, systematic theology, new testament studies, economics, and pastoral care. In his dissertation, he analyzes Augustine’s account of self-love, its reception in western theology, and its potential and limitations for pastoral care. Prestigious scholarships, including the Fulbright Program, have supported his research.
