What were you looking for in a residency program?
I was looking for a program which challenges me to grow as a clinician with variable patient population and pathology. Duke offers that and some more! I also wanted a program with a supportive and collaborative culture and I've gladly found those things here at Duke!
What are the strengths of the Duke program?
The Duke EM program includes EM attendings from a variety of backgrounds and interests such as ultrasound, hyperbarics, clinical and translational research as well as global health research. Our consultants are experts in their respective fields which enriches our learning as EM residents. The program also offers a degree of acuity and pathology that is unparalleled, making our 3-year program more than sufficient in producing excellent residents.
What advice do you have for incoming interns?
Don't be embarrassed or shy to ask several questions. Follow up on the course of your patients after they leave the ED.
