Inflammatory bowel disease, infectious, or ischemic colitis can all present with lower gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding. Overall, colitis contributes to approximately 20% of all causes of lower GI bleed [1]. Bleeding from colitis is usually intermittent, self-limiting, and commonly associated with other symptoms such as diarrhea, fevers, abdominal pain © 2010 Springer-Verlag New York.
