How to Find and Start a Job in Faculty Development.
In this interactive session, panelists with experience across institutional contexts and career stages will offer practical guidance to those interested in entering the field of faculty development. Drawing on their own professional paths, presenters will discuss the range of entry-level roles and career trajectories in teaching and learning centers, highlight cultural differences between faculty and educational-development positions, and share strategies for navigating the job market, including where positions are advertised and what hiring committees look for in application materials and interviews. Panelists will also facilitate conversation about transferable skills from teaching, research, and service, and the knowledge and competencies necessary to thrive in this work, while pointing participants toward key resources to support their first years in the profession.
