Cardiac catheterization provides an important diagnostic and therapeutic option to enhance the management of children in the critical care environment. Since its inception, the role of cardiac catheterization continues to evolve, now with an increasing repertoire of interventional procedures. This chapter aims to improve understanding of the risks, benefits and limitations of cardiac catheterization for the intensive care provider and to recognize the importance of team communication to facilitate safe and effective procedural planning and conduct..
