Ascariasis Presenting as Lower Gastrointestinal Hemorrhage Secondary to Intussusception

is a roundworm that infects an estimated 1.2 billion people worldwide, primarily in tropical and subtropical developing countries. Affected children and adults can be asymptomatic or present with complications, including gastrointestinal (GI) hemorrhage. We report a case of a 15‐year‐old male who presented with lower GI bleeding ultimately identified as ‐associated small bowel intussusception. This case describes an interesting complication of ascariasis and highlights potential gaps in the detection of this parasite as well as complications that may occur in health systems that do not frequently encounter this parasite.
