Nail Disorders in Systemic Conditions

Nail findings in children can be indicative of an underlying systemic disease. Many of these findings are seen in multiple entities and are not specific to one disease. The importance of specifically examining for these nail changes cannot be overstated. When detected on clinical examination, these nail findings can help to generate possible diagnoses. In some cases, given all the clinical features of a patient, they will help to make the final diagnosis. This paper aims to discuss some of the most common nail findings seen in each of the body's systems.
