Invasive squamous cell carcinoma of the conjunctiva: A case report

This case report illustrates the clinical and histopathologic features of lymphovascular permeation by a superficially invasive squamous cell carcinoma of the conjunctiva. Cytologic study of simple conjunctival scrapings is a useful technique for confirming the clinical diagnosis of this uncommon tumor. Regular follow up of patients, even after total surgical excision of the tumoral mass, is necessary for early detection of potential lymphatic spread.
