Obesity is a common, complex, and often persistent chronic disease associated with serious health and social consequences if not treated. Yet, despite the disease’s complexity, treatment of obesity can be successful. The current and long-term health of 14.4 million children and adolescents is affected by obesity, making it one of the most common pediatric chronic diseases in the United States.
