Dr. Ashleigh Shelby Rosette is the James L. Vincent Distinguished Professor of Leadership at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. She is one of the foremost leading scholars on research that resides at the intersection of leadership, gender, and race and is one of the most decorated teachers in the history of Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business having received the Teaching Excellence Award of the Year a record-breaking twelve times within thirteen years.

​Dr. Rosette's primary research focuses on leadership and diverse viewpoints, aiming to deeply understand how individuals perceive an array of differences in the workplace, particularly when top leaders and other influential members of the organization are considered. Much of her work emphasizes women in leadership, highlighting the unique challenges and opportunities they face. Her inclusive approach underscores the importance of fostering an environment where diverse perspectives and experiences are recognized and valued. Her secondary area of research, negotiations, complements her principal area of study as a basic premise of her work is that an in-depth understanding of a variety of negotiation skills must be understood and engaged to capitalize on the benefits of diverse experiences.

She has written numerous academic research articles and published them in top academic journals and outlets, including the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organization Science, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. Professor Rosette’s groundbreaking research has been featured in prominent media outlets, such as Forbes, CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, Business Week, the Financial Times, USAToday, Huffington Post and National Public Radio. In addition, through her keynote addresses, summit presentations, and consulting engagements, her work resonates with corporate leaders and policy makers and has spurred important conversations, policy change, and innovative programming.

Professor Rosette has earned several distinguished awards, solidifying her reputation as a leading expert in her field. She was ranked as one of the Favorite Professors by Poets & Quants, received the PhD Project’s Trailblazer Award, the Bank of America Faculty Award (Fuqua’s highest faculty honor) and was awarded the James L. Vincent Distinguished Chair of Leadership. In addition to these honors, she has earned several distinguished best paper awards for her research.

​Her leadership expertise has extended to her role as Senior Associate Dean of Executive Education at the Fuqua School of Business. During her three-year tenure, she spearheaded initiatives to bring cutting-edge research into executive education, preparing leaders to navigate complex, diverse environments. Her areas of responsibility included the Executive MBA Programs, Executive Education, Global Teams, and Information Technology.

She received her Bachelor in Business Administration degree and Master in Professional Accounting degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She received her Ph.D. in Management and Organizations from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Prior to entering academia, she worked for Arthur Andersen LLP as a Certified Public Accountant.
