Single-sensor imaging provides a convenient, yet low-cost solution for the problem of capturing color images at multiple wavelengths. To capture color, single-sensor cameras add a color filter array (CFA) [1], [2] on top of the photo-detector array. The CFA provides a simple mechanism for sampling different color channels in a multiplexed fashion.1 Using a CFA trades-off the spatial sampling resolution of the three-sensor system, to achieve multispectral sampling. Refer to Chapters 1 and 5 for details.
