The no-carrier-added synthesis of N-succinimidyl 3–[211 At]astato-benzoate from N-succinimidyl 3-(tri-w-butylstannyl)benzoate (ATE) is described. The nature of the solvent in which the 211At was isolated from the target was an important factor influencing both the radiochemical yields and the nature of the incorporated astatine activity. © R.
