Overview


Jenna Pittman (she/her) is a Ph.D.student of modern European history at Duke University. Her scholarly interests include: political economy, socialist economics, and gender. Jenna’s current research focuses on East German agriculture and chemical production and the German Democratic Republic (GDR) planned economy from 1952-1989. Broadly speaking, Jenna is interested in how her scholarly interests relate to the contemporary geopolitical position of Europe, the Soviet Union and its legacy before and after 1991, and global energy and commodity networks. Before beginning graduate studies at Duke University, Jenna received her Bachelor of Arts in History and Bachelor of Education in Social Studies Education from the University of Toledo.
