Service to the Profession
The goal of CONA is to advance psychology as a science and profession and as a means of promoting human welfare by ensuring that older adults, especially the growing numbers of older women and minorities, receive the attention of the Association. CONA works toward the optimal development of older adults, expanded scientific understanding of adult development and aging, and the delivery of appropriate psychological services to older persons.
• The Palliative Care SIG will serve as a forum for: a) fostering interdisciplinary communication and community among researchers and clinicians working with palliative care populations; b) promoting high-quality, collaborative palliative care research; c) enhancing the professional development of researchers and clinicians through education and mentoring; d) working with other professional organizations involved in palliative care research; and, e) working with pre-doctoral internship and other training programs that include a focus in palliative care.
Carry out projects and activities within areas to enhance clinical service and training opportunities, and research collaborations with psychologists working in palliative care setting within the VA Health Care System.
