Lindsay Maldari is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Art, Art History & Visual Studies at Duke University. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Art History and Political Science at Elon University (2019), before moving to Rome to earn her Master’s degree in Art History at John Cabot University (2022). At the Master’s level, her research focused on popular commemoration of the Fosse Ardeatine massacre in Nazi-occupied Rome. At Duke, Lindsay plans to continue her work on grassroots memorialization of the Italian Resistance, with an added attention to the iconoclastic destruction of Fascist monuments and symbols in postwar Italy. She will concurrently pursue a College Teaching certification in addition to continuing her involvement as a proofreader for the Italian Studies academic journal, Annali d’italianistica.
