Overview
Tong Yu (Mandy), born and raised in Beijing in 2002, is a filmmaker and animator specializing in documentary and experimental film. A graduate of Duke Kunshan University, she works across video and animation to explore topics related to environmental change and ethnographic research. She is particularly interested in capturing the tensions between traditional practices and mainstream development, and in documenting human relationships with nature and non-human life. Mandy enjoys experimenting with unconventional storytelling forms and is eager to expand her work into interactive and installation-based media that move beyond the screen. Outside of filmmaking, she is passionate about music and sports, both of which continue to inspire her creative energy and artistic sensibility.
