Overview


Anthony Ballas is a PhD student in the Program in Literature. His primary research interests include Caribbean and Atlantic literatures of the Americas, Haitian Studies, historiography, and internationalism in the long nineteenth century (1791-1955). He also researches Jazz, Hip Hop, poetics, Cold War-era cinema, labor history, and the postal service. His work has been published or is forthcoming in Caribbean QuarterlyRevue d'Histoire Haitienne, Middle West ReviewCanadian Review of American StudiesJ19: The Journal of Nineteenth Century Americanists, Peace, land, & Bread, 3:AM MagazineBlack Agenda Report, Scalawag Magazine, and elsewhere.
