Overview

Born in Munich, Germany, and raised near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Andrea received her BA from UNC Chapel Hill and her MA from Duke University before joining the Carolina-Duke PhD Program. She is also a published author of three books and has been serving as an instructor and visiting lecturer at both Duke University and UNC Chapel Hill since 2016.
In her research, she is particularly interested in the juxtaposition of philosophy and psychology; currently, Andrea is examining identity formation and retention as mediated by language, such as in exile or translingual literature as well as gender normativity in German literature.
