Ayomide Bankole

Overview


Dr. Bankole is an Assistant Professor at Duke University School of Nursing. Her program of research builds on her  clinical experience across hospital and home- based care settings. Her work centers on developing, testing, and implementing home-based models of care that improve the function and quality of life of older adults with complex chronic conditions (e.g., multiple chronic conditions, dementia, cancer), particularly during periods of care transition. Her overarching goal is to advance meaningful, effective, patient-centered, home-based care through research that informs healthcare delivery and policy.

Prior to her current faculty role at Duke University, she was a National Institute of Nursing Research T32 postdoctoral fellow (2021-2024) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Nursing, and Clinical Assistant Professor at George Washington University School of Nursing (2019-2021). She received her Ph.D and B.S in nursing degrees from the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio Texas.

Dr. Bankole’s program of research has been recognized through national programs such as: being a 2024 National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) SDOH Summer Research Institute scholar, 2023 CLN-STAR Health Equity Research Scholar and 2024 AGING Initiative Multiple Chronic Conditions (MCC) scholar.  She has presented her research at national and international conferences. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals across nursing, medical, and gerontological journals.
