Overview


Jennifer L. Behrens became the Goodson Law Library’s Associate Director for Administration & Scholarship in 2019, following previous appointments as a Reference Librarian and the Head of Reference Services. She currently oversees the library’s scholarship initiatives, and serves as Journals Advisor for Duke Law’s student-edited publications. As a Senior Lecturing Fellow, Ms. Behrens provides legal research instruction in the JD and LLM legal research and writing courses, and regularly co-teaches the seminar Introduction to Technology in the Law Office.

She received a J.D. and an M.L.S. from the University at Buffalo, and holds a B.A. in English from Daemen College. Prior to joining Duke Law in August 2006, she worked for several years in public and academic libraries, including the University at Buffalo’s Charles B. Sears Law Library. She is a member of the New York State bar, and is active in the American Association of Law Libraries, the Southeastern Chapter of the American Association of Law Libraries, and the North Carolina Library Association’s Government Resources Section. Her publications have appeared in Law Library Journal, Legal Reference Services Quarterly, the North Carolina State Bar Journal, AALL Spectrum, and Government Information Quarterly. She is also the author of a CALI legal research tutorial on current awareness and alerting services. Her areas of research interest include legal technology, legal research, legal history, government documents, and intellectual property.
