Overview


Ben Weintraut is a Ph.D. candidate in environmental economics at Duke University and an affiliated researcher at the Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment & Sustainability. His research interests lie at the intersection of energy and environmental economics, industrial organization, and household finance.

In 2024, Ben served as a Staff Economist at the White House Council of Economic Advisers, where he focused on climate policy, energy, and industrial strategy. Prior to coming to Duke, he worked in a variety of research roles, including as an Associate Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. He holds an MA in public policy from the University of Chicago and a BA in economics and political science from the University of Georgia.
