Overview
Brent is a first-year Masters student at Duke University studying Photonics and Optical Sciences. He graduated with a B.S. in Optical Engineering from the University of Rochester (2023). During his undergraduate years, Brent worked under Dr. Wayne H. Knox, developing a technique to identify microplastics based on their quantitative birefringence. He also spent two summers at Corning Tropel as a member of the System Test and Metrology Group, designing interferometers and accompany software tools for small component optical metrology.
Currently, Brent's focus in the BIOS lab is centered around system design and improvement of the low-cost OCT devices. More specifically, he is working on a new spectrometer design form for the spectral-domain OCT devices.
