Development of new graduate training program, aiM - "AI for understanding and designing Materials". A five year grant from the National Science Foundation has enabled development of this program at Duke at the intersection of AI and Materials Science. PhD students from all engineering departments, chemistry and physics can apply for this program in addition to their departmental degree. The program entails training in fundamentals of machine learning and materials science, along with 2 courses focused on applications of machine learning in materials. Two new courses have been developed for this program and are now part of a permanent certificate program.
