Assisted reproductive technology use after adolescent and young adult cancer in North Carolina · July 2021 - May 2022 PI · Awarded by: NCI F31 F31 awarded by the National Cancer Institute. Project Narrative: Females with cancer can experience reduced fertility after cancer treatment and may require the use of assisted reproductive technology (ART) to achieve pregnancy. However, sparse scientific evidence exists regarding the extent to which ART for fertility preservation may delay cancer treatment initiation, and how rates of reproductive success may vary based on timing of ART initiation (i.e., prior to cancer treatment for fertility preservation or after cancer treatment). The project addresses those clinically relevant questions to inform health care providers and cancer patients who face fertility-related decisions.
