Overview
Cathleen M Bury, MD is an Assistant Professor, Simulation Director, and Assistant Medical Director in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Bury earned her medical degree from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, and went on to complete her residency training in Emergency Medicine at Duke University, where she served as Chief Resident and developed a passion for both medical education and clinical operations. Following graduation she joined the Emergency Medicine faculty, where she now serves as a core faculty member and Simulation Director for the residency program, and Assistant Medical Director with a focus in operations. In addition to serving as a residency core faculty member, she serves the medical school as an ACE Clinical Preceptor, and has mentored numerous residents and medical students interested in the field of Emergency Medicine. Her operational work includes streamlining and improving operational processes to deliver immediate, evidence-based care to patients with time-sensitive pathologies including STEMI and stroke. Dr. Bury has been recognized by numerous clinical and departmental awards, including the Susan B. Promes Leadership Award (2017) and the Department’s Faculty Clinician of the Year Award (2020).
