Overview
Cole Adams is a PhD candidate in the Program in Literature at Duke University completing certificates in Feminist Studies and College Teaching. His dissertation, "Critical Exhaustion: Campus Crisis and the Poetry of Repair," draws on case studies from the papers of Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick, Adrienne Rich, June Jordan, Susan Howe, and Christina Sharpe to reassess the unconventional modes of criticism these writers developed in moments of upheaval and rethink the social forms of duress that foster countervailing investments in the power of writing. In addition to contemporary literature, poetics, and critical university studies, his areas of interest include critical theories of disability, psychoanalysis, and science fiction.
