Gabriela Fernandez

I am a Psychology & Neuroscience Ph.D. student at Duke University working with Dr. Felipe De Brigard and Dr. Kevin LaBar. My main research interest is the relationship between forgiveness and memory. I am particularly interested in understanding the effect that forgiveness has on traumatic memories in the context of war. That is why an important part of my research is carried out in Colombia with victims of the internal armed conflict. I am also interested in the relationship between memory and imagination, particularly, the way in which future thinking affects how we remember negative memories.

I earned my B.A. in Psychology with Honors from Universidad Javeriana and my M.A. from Universidad de los Andes (Bogota, Colombia).
