Overview
Dr. Gaillynn Clements is a socio-historical linguist whose research originally focused on rural Southern United States’s speakers. Her work specifically explored gendered speech ways through social network analysis. She has also worked on pedagogy in linguistics, specifically, linguistic integration and preparedness for graduate students in TESOL and Masters Education programs. She has also researched and published in linguistic discrimination in academia and ADA compliance in linguistics courses. Her current research focuses on linguistic and social markers in fertility narratives. Publications include: Linguistic Discrimination in US Higher Education: Power, Prejudice, Impacts, and Remedies (Routledge, 2021) and Linguistic Foundations for Second language Teaching and Learning (Cambridge UP, forthcoming 2025).
