Research Interests

I am originally from Blacksburg, Virginia, a college town nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I just graduated in May 2016 from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where I received a BSE in Polymer Science and Engineering as well as a BA in Biology. At Case, I did my undergraduate research under Dr. Jon Pokorski, studying RANTES delivery using a triggered hydrogel for HIV prevention.

I chose to attend Duke University because during my program visits, the students and faculty at Duke stuck out as being extremely engaging, friendly and humble. I joined the Heaton lab in 2017 to explore influenza research.
