Overview
Heather Hurlburt’s career sits at the intersection of foreign policy and domestic politics. Her most recent government service was as chief of staff to the U.S. Trade Representative under President Biden. Earlier, she was a speechwriter and member of the Secretary of State’s Policy Planning staff under Secretaries of State Albright and Christopher, and a Special Assistant and speechwriter to President Bill Clinton. She also worked on Capitol Hill and the US Delegation to the OSCE. She held leadership roles in international affairs advocacy, including at the International Crisis Group and Human Rights First. She is currently an Associate Fellow at the London think tank Chatham House and serves on the boards of the Scoville Fellowship and the Feminist Foreign Policy Collaborative. She is a co-founder of the Leadership Council for Women in National Security and holds an MA in International Relations from George Washington University and an AB from Brown University, magna cum laude.
