Overview
I am currently pursuing a PhD in population health sciences at the School of Medicine. I am also a Biosciences Collaborative for Research Engagement (BioCoRE) scholar. I am originally from the Philippines. My current work is focused on health systems innovation, and improving quality of care through implementation science.
After completing my training as a physician in 2011, I served as a municipal health officer under the Philippine Department of Health's rural physician deployment program. The lessons I learned and the fulfillment I had from that stint led me to shift to a full-time research career, starting at the Institute of Health Policy and Development Studies, based at the University of the Philippines Manila (UPM). I eventually served in faculty and project associate roles at San Beda University in Manila, and at the UPM College of Public Health. Concurrently, I did consulting with national and local government health agencies, and the private sector.
