Research Interests

My primary long-term research goal is to reduce mobility disability, falls, and chronic sedentary behavior in people living in the community with subacute neurological conditions and improve resiliency in geriatric population.
Our research teams have completed recruitment for 2 NIH funded studies (TRANSPORT2; 1U01NS102353; PIs: Drs. Feng and Schlaug; AND PRIME-Knee; 4UH3AG056925-03; PI: Dr. Whitson and Colon-Emeric) and are now working on data analysis and publications. We received funding for 2 additional NIH Randomized Controlled Trials that will begin recruitment in summer/fall 2025: (1) Combining rTMS & Aerobic exercise to treat depression and improve post-stroke walking (RESTORATION) and (2) The Virtual Activities of Living for Occupational Rehabilitation (VALOR)- Phase II. My research interests also include mixed methods educational research in the areas of interprofessional education and student perceptions of education on wellness, fitness, participation and social justice in persons with disability.
