Overview
John Caccavale is currently the Executive Director of the Duke Financial Economics Center. As part of his role, John partners closely with the Duke Career Center, the Duke Alumni Association, Duke Global Education, Trinity College of Arts and Sciences Development and financial professionals and alumni to empower all Duke undergraduates, regardless of academic focus, to enter finance careers uniquely prepared to succeed. John spends a significant amount of time mentoring and advising students on how to achieve their goals of working in finance.
John graduated from Duke University in 1981 with degrees in Management Science and Economics. John began his career with JP Morgan on the foreign exchange trading desk. While working, John earned his MBA in International Economics from NYU Stern in 1986. In 1992, John and his family were transferred to JP Morgan London for a three year assignment. John was promoted to Managing Director in 1996 and was responsible for all of Foreign Exchange sales, trading and research for JP Morgan North America until his departure following the JPM/Chase merger in 2001. After a short stint at Lehman Brothers, John joined Barclays Capital as Head of North American Foreign Exchange in 2002. In 2006, John assumed responsibility for the North American BARX electronic sales distribution for all products.
An active Duke alumnus in the recruiting space since graduating, John served as the Duke University recruiting captain for JP Morgan and Barclays Capital. He has also been a DFE Sponsor and student mentor since 2007.
