Research Interests
I am interested in exploring how Black Christian women in the U.S. South come to understand their bodies and sexuality through dance in "sacred" and "secular" spaces. My research focuses particularly on the impact of the messages dancers receive in these spaces on their lived experiences and the ways these messages shape everything from how they govern themselves in relationships with others to their political beliefs.
