Julian Alvarez is a PhD candidate researching 20th and 21st century Brazilian history. His research interests sit at the intersection of political history, environmental history, and economic history. In particular, he is interested in soybeans, agribusiness, and the transformation of Brazil's cerrado (tropical savanna) from the 1970s through the present.
