Karthik Raghunathan
Associate Professor of Anesthesiology
Dr. Karthik Raghunathan is an Associate Professor with Tenure in the Department of Anesthesiology (Primary Appointment) and in the Department of Population Health Sciences (Secondary Appointment) at the Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, North Carolina.
He is also a Staff Physician in the Anesthesia Service at the Durham Veterans Affairs Healthcare System in Durham, North Carolina.
In addition to clinical and educational work at the Durham VA and Duke Hospitals, Dr. Raghunathan serves as Co-Director of the Critical Care and Perioperative Population Health Research (CAPER) Unit conducting health services research with a focus on critically ill and surgical populations. As of 2021, he has received nearly $2 Million in funding from Federal, Industry, and Non-Profit entities. Dr. Raghunathan is particularly interested in implementation of non-pharmacological treatments (Perioperative Music Medicine), Learning Health, Resuscitation and Analgesia in ICUs and Operating Rooms, Equity in Perioperative and Critical Care, and in Observational Research Methods. He collaborates with researchers within Duke, and around the world.
