Panelist - North Carolina Collaborative Summer Research Experience Program · 2016 - 2018 Event Participation Served on a panel as part of a program for high school students, undergraduate students, and teachers to learn about clinical research at Duke.
Volunteer · 2015 Community Outreach Local Durham elementary school Talked with a group of elementary students about the brain, specifically how learning and memory work in the human brain.
Tour guide of Duke BIAC MRI facility · 2015 - 2017 Event Participation Duke Brain Imaging and Analysis (BIAC) tour – led a 3-hour tour and demonstration of the Duke BIAC to a group of 25 high school students participating in a summer neuroscience camp.
Volunteer - Brain Awareness Week · 2012 - 2013 Community Outreach , Durham Elementary School Visited elementary school classrooms to discuss with the students how the brain is critically important for human behavior.

Inclusion and Power Dynamics in Academia is a series of workshops and discussions centering on issues related to power dynamics in academia. We are discussing topics including harassment, diversity, inclusion, mentoring, implicit bias, and creating a culture of structure in hopes of raising awareness, increasing education, and promoting a healthier climate at Duke.

SPEAK: Scientists Promoting Equity And Knowledge is a mentoring group for trainees and junior faculty. We meet monthly to discuss issues related to being a underrepresented group (e.g., women, racial/ethnic minority) in academia. Our goal is the equip ourselves with skills necessary to succeed in academia.
