Selected Presentations & Appearances
GME trainees may have preexisting medical and behavioral health conditions, or develop them during their training programs. They have difficulty accessing care, leading to potential deteriorations in health, which can affect their performance negatively. The COVID-19 pandemic compromised the education of many GME trainees, increasing the need for remediation. High risk periods include transitions to new responsibilities, notification of performance problems, and final employment actions, e.g. nonrenewal. The identification of a trainee with performance challenges provides a unique opportunity for interventions to ensure the trainee has all appropriate resources, and to assure their well-being. The presenters, who are GME and Occupational Health leaders, will present the results of their partnership in prospective and targeted interventions to promote optimal trainee health, well-being and performance. Attendees will share strategies and evaluate their existing resources.
