Overview
I am a pediatric oncologist with a focus in sarcomas that affect children, teenagers, and young adults. My research is focused in osteosarcoma, the most common bone tumor in this age group and one that comes back after initial chemotherapy and surgery in nearly half of patients. I study how osteosarcoma cells are able to survive chemotherapy treatment and how osteosarcoma cells change after exposure to chemotherapy, with a goal to identify new therapies that can target these adaptations to improve patient outcomes.

Chondroblastic Subtype Is Associated with Higher Rates of Local Recurrence in Skeletal Osteosarcoma.
Journal Article J Clin Med · November 10, 2025 Background/Objectives: Locally recurrent osteosarcoma is associated with high patient morbidity and mortality, yet the risk factors for local recurrence remain incompletely understood. Therefore, the objective of this study was to comprehensively assess th ... Journal Article Cancer Epidemiol · October 2024 BACKGROUND: Canine and human osteosarcoma are similar in clinical presentation and tumor genomics. Giant breed dogs experience elevated osteosarcoma incidence, and taller stature remains a consistent risk factor for human osteosarcoma. Whether evolutionari ...
