My name is Maria M. Laurito and I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Economics track.

In my current work, I combine my background in engineering, economics, and public policy to study the effects of reconstruction of the built-environment after natural disasters on the recovery and resilience of communities and individuals.

Prior to Duke, I worked in development finance, banking, and the energy sector in Latin America and the United States. I am also a graduate of the MPP program at Duke (2012).
