Overview
Dr. Marissa Abram is a nurse scientist whose research focuses on improving care for individuals with substance use disorders through evidence-based strategies, harm reduction, and stigma reduction. She leads innovative projects that integrate simulation-based and interprofessional education to prepare a skilled, inclusive healthcare workforce. As a Macy Faculty Scholar, Dr. Abram is advancing the Compassionate Addiction Recovery Education (CARE) Project, which embeds harm reduction principles into health professional training. Her work also addresses rural health challenges, opioid use disorder, and nurse-led models of care, with the goal of promoting health equity and improving outcomes for communities experiencing barriers to healthcare.
