Overview
I am a poet, publisher, and researcher studying modern and contemporary poetics in the American hemisphere. My work approaches poetics in its capacity for diverse decolonizing practices while centering experimental literature, cultural theory, and the encounter between history and memory. My interests engage primarily the fields of Modern and Contemporary Literature in the American Hemisphere, Caribbean and Latin American Studies, African and African American Studies, Critical Modernity Studies, and the Blue Humanities.
With the poets Dale Smith and Hoa Nguyen, I publish the Slow Poetry in American Newsletter. Along with Tessa Bolsover, I publish hand-bound poetry books through auric press.
From 2022-2025, Tessa Bolsover and I organized the Solarities Contemporary Poetry series, which brought important and emerging poets to Duke. The complete series has been archived via the University of Pennsylvania's PennSound poetry database.
I am currently the Graduate Coordinator for the Climate Change, Decolonization, and Global Blackness Lab, a stream of the Franklin Humanities Institute's Entanglement Project.
