Overview
Moriah LeFebvre is a native Durhamite and mixed-media artist who explores themes of transience, connection, and home. Recipient of a 2015 Ella Fountain Pratt Emerging Artist Award and 2019 David and Elizabeth Roderick Scholarship Award, LeFebvre utilizes visual media as a site for historical memory. In her decade-long Hometown (Inherited) series (2014-2024), LeFebvre has captured the changing landscape of Durham through a series of mixed media pieces. As the 2020-2021 Kenan Graduate Arts Fellow, LeFebvre explored the struggles and resilience of the recovery community during COVID-19. In her film, by & by, LeFebvre utilized hand-animation techniques to tell a story that spans continents and a century. LeFebvre screened her film at the Nanjing Massacre Museum in 2024. She currently teaches classes at the Durham Arts Council and Durham Technical Community College as well as Duke University.
