Nels Carl Anderson Jr.
Associate Professor Emeritus of Cell Biology
This laboratory focuses on two aspects of the heart: 1) the control of cytosolic calcium concentration in the cardiac myocyte and how changes in the sources of cytosolic calcium result in the developmental increase in the cytosolic calcium transient and amount and velocity of sarcomere shortening; 2) the modulation of myocardial function through the expression of isoforms of cardiac troponin T, a thin-filament regulatory protein essential for myofilament sensitivity to calcium.
