Overview


Dr. Qing Hao is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Division of Stroke & Vascular Neurology, Duke University School of Medicine, and Staff Neurologist at Duke University Medical Center.  She is board certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. 

Dr. Hao received her medical degree from Peking University Health Science Center in China. She then received research training at the Chinese University of Hong Kong where she received her Ph.D., followed by stroke research training at UCLA Stroke Center. She completed neurology residency training at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and vascular neurology fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She served on the faculty of Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai before joining Duke University in 2025.

Dr. Hao’s clinical practice encompasses vascular neurology and cerebrovascular disease in the emergency, inpatient, outpatient, and telemedicine settings. She has a particular clinical and research interest in cerebral atherosclerotic disease (plaque buildup in brain blood vessels), one of the major causes of ischemic stroke worldwide. Her research portfolios include exploring biomarkers (including imaging and laboratory makers) to better evaluate and monitor intracranial atherosclerosis, and optimizing the management strategies to improve the outcomes. She has published over 40 peer reviewed articles.
