Overview
Shep Moyle is an experienced professor, entrepreneur, CEO, chairman, business owner, and community leader with more than 30 years of leadership in the digital retail and e-commerce industry.
He currently is a Senior Lecturing Fellow in Duke University’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program in the Fuqua School of Business teaching entrepreneurship , innovation and strategy to both undergraduate, graduate and MBA students as well as Executive Education clients. He also teaches an highly rated course in Luxury, Wealth and Happiness.
Additionally, he serves as a Faculty Fellow for Quad Ex, has been selected as a speaker for TedX Duke 2025 and has been rated in the top 5% of all faculty at Duke. He has also recently been teaching “How to Launch a Startup in 60 minutes using AI” as well as “Personal Branding”.
He serves as a CEO Coach to a select clientele of CEO’s globally , as a Fellow at the National War College and serves on multiple corporate boards as well as doing strategy work for universities and organizations.
He served as president, CEO, and board chairman of Shindigz for 31 years, the third-largest specialty branded retailer of party supplies, decoration, and personalized items globally. During Shep’s tenure, Shindigz generated over $2 billion in revenue in more than 55 countries globally offering over 36,000 items.
Prior to Shindigz, he was brand manager on Doritos and Fritos for Frito Lay, Inc., where he created Tostitos Restaurant Style Tortilla Chips, Lime Flavor, Bite Size and White Corn Tostitos. This re-stage drove revenues from $90 million annually to over $1 .5 billion in sales.
Shep has been an active member of the Young President’s Organization (YPO) since the age of 28 and served as Global Chairman of the YPO International Board. During his leadership, Shep initiated the merger with WPO, created and introduced networks globally and drove international membership to new records . He has been recognized with the YPO Legacy Award, received multiple “best of the best” awards, traveled to 106 countries for YPO and led the Education training for YPO globally for 4 years.
He has served as a member of the Duke University Board of Trustees, as President of the Duke Alumni Association, on the boards of Athletics, Innovation and Entrepreneurship and multiple other boards. In 2018 he was recognized with the Charles A. Dukes Distinguished Alumni Award for lifetime contributions to the University.
He served as Chairman of the Parkview Health System a $1.6 billion regional health system where Shep led the acquisition of multiple regional community hospitals and the investment of over $1 billion in a new tertiary and research campus.
He has served as Vice President of the Harvard Business School Alumni Board focusing on corporate board diversity and alumni peer networking and founded and chaired the first Parents Committee at Syracuse University.
In 2017 Shep was chosen for a year-long fellowship in Harvard University’s Advanced Leadership Initiative that led to the creation of the “Chasing the Cure” Foundation transforming the process of research in academic medical centers and speeding cures to market.
He is a 1984 Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Duke University where he was elected student body president in his sophomore year and he received an MBA with honors from the Harvard Business School in 1986.
He has been recognized as Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Cataloger of the Year, On Line Retailer of the Year, one of Forbes Top Web Retailers and a member of Indiana’s Growth 100.
