Overview

I am a PhD candidate in Cultural Anthropology focused on how we form bonds and improvise in times of crisis. My thesis research focused on Kurdish mountaineering and paragliding, the role of ecological appeals in creating international investment, and the overlap of military activity and outdoor recreation.  I am interested in responsibility, obligation, risk, and debt; how do we find each other, connect, or decide to cut bonds when there is a lot at stake.

Currently, I am involved in a project on the longitudinal environmental impacts of heavy ordnance use in Ukraine, Syria, and Iraq.

In my before-anthropology life, I taught mathematics and statistics at the college level, developed departmental seminars to encourage undergraduate research, and offered statistical consulting. Always looking to connect on issues of environmental justice, extreme sports, or responsibility in combat.
