Overview

Syd is a first-year Ph.D. student at Duke’s Clinical Psychology Program working with Dr. David Goldston. She is broadly interested in understanding the role trauma and minority stressors play in suicidality among LGBTQIA+ adolescents and young adults and how to best develop and adapt interventions for these youth.

Syd received her B.S. in psychology from The Ohio State University in 2021, where she worked as a research assistant in a mood and personality studies lab and a student assistant at the Center for Latin American Studies. After graduation, she spent two years as a Clinical Research Assistant at the Adolescent Mental Health Collaborative at Brown University Alpert Medical School. There, she worked on a multi-site PCORI-funded study testing the effectiveness of a suicide prevention intervention for adolescents and young adults seen in the Emergency Department.
