Faculty Coordinator - 2013 U.S. Particle Accelerator School (USPAS) at Duke · December 16, 2012 - January 1, 2013 Other Other Service to the Community ; The USPAS is a national graduate program in the particle beam science and accelerator technologies. Because accelerators are typically large facilities operated by the national laboratories,no single university has the critical mass to meet the nation's training need. Governed and funded by US national labs, the USPAS is a rotating graduate program among top universities to provide the graduate education and training of young researchers in this important field of scientific research and development. As the faculty coordinator for the 2013 winter USPAS at Duke University, I worked closely with a number of Duke administrative entities, including Physics Department, Graduate School, Visa Services, Registrar's Office, to set up the USPAS graduate program. As the faculty coordinator and Professor of Record for the USPAS course, I also reviewed and approved all USPAS applicants to allow they to be admitted to take this special Duke graduate course.
