Broadband energy harvesting from a bistable potential well
Book sections

This chapter describes recent research on the use of a bistable oscillator, in lieu of the more common choice of using a linear oscillator, for energy harvesting. The chapter progresses from the elementary theory for the potential well escape problem to analyzing several examples of using an oscillator with a bistable potential in electromagnetic and piezoelectric harvester applications. Select results are presented for harmonic and stochastic excitation.
